This Valise Tray ( which holds a 6 man life raft) was originally manufactured using the traditional hand lay – up method, but the importance of maintaining a uniformed wall thickness of 3mm for the special eyelets which are fitted was labour intensified and often difficult to achieve. We redesigned the part and converted the process to the Prestovac System. The Valise Tray (which is used in the Australian air Force) now maintains a uniform wall thickness of 3mm , has a smooth finish on both sides and is 1kg (2.2 lbs)
In 1992 we were asked by one of our customers if we could manufacture a replacement composite case for the 38 man liferaft onboard Concorde, as some of the cases had been damaged during the 20 years in service.
The original supplier had since gone out of business, so there were no production moulds available either.
We had to start at the beginning, first drawings were issued with the original specification, from these we produced wood patterns and composite tooling, a total of 6 liferafts , 3 for Air – France and 3 for British Airways.

The hard pack composite stowage is strong, durable compact design providing protection from the elements and easy transportation. This ensures that when you need to use the product it will be ready every time.
The RFD Aerolite liferaft is a lightweight design specifically for use within the aviation industry. The different liferaft sizes are packed into a large variety of hard pack stowages.
